There are thousands of people streaming into the Sioux Falls Arena and Convention Center right now.
Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, a rising GOP star, is scheduled to speak in just over an hour to a sold-out hall.
These two facts are only slightly connected.
Most of the people arriving are attending the Heaven Is For Real event in the arena. The Jindal speech, the keynote of the 2012 South Dakota Republican Party convention, will be to several hundred people sitting (and standing — they’re selling standing-room tickets) in a large convention hall.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard will be introducing Jindal.
Jindal, of course, is rumored as a potential vice-presidential pick for Mitt Romney — as is South Dakota’s Sen. John Thune.
