Noem ad goes after Varilek: Rep. Kristi Noem’s streak of not mentioning her opponent in TV ads appears to be over.

Her latest video, embedded above, features a narrator attacking Varilek and defending Noem from his charges of poor committee attendance by citing her voting record and meetings with constituents.

I believe, though have yet to get confirmation, that this is running on TV.

There’s a lot in this ad, but I’ll highlight just one thing: Noem’s disclaimer identifies her as “candidate for Congress,” not as a member of Congress. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s interesting that she is adopting the stance of an outsider for her reelection campaign.

Here’s the transcript:

Kristi Noem: I’m Kristi Noem, candidate for Congress, and I approve this message.

Narrator: Matt Varilek doesn’t tell you about Kristi Noem’s 99 percent voting record, or that she’s held over 800 meetings with South Dakota constituents. Matt Varilek does say he agrees with President Obama on almost everything, like taking $716 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare, forcing 7 million seniors to find other coverage, and the reckless spending that’s put us $16 trillion in debt. Matt Varilek: on issues that matter, he agrees with them.
