Betty Olson and guns in government buildings

Remember when Rep. Betty Olson declared she was bringing a bill letting concealed weapons permit holders bring their weapons into government buildings?

"They couldn’t get it written the way I wanted it, so I’m going to wait until next year," said Olson today, the deadline for individual lawmakers to file bills.

But she’s not going to bring back the exact same legislation she previewed.

Instead, she’s going back to an idea that floated around the Legislature a few weeks ago: letting lawmakers carry concealed weapons in the Capitol.

"What sitting ducks we are here," Olson said. "I’ve been thinking that ever since Gabby Giffords was shot down in Arizona."

Olson can use the free time not filing that bill has given her to advocate for reduced marijuana punishments.
