Rep. Kristi Noem has not made a decision about whether to run for U.S. Senate next year, the second-term Republican congresswoman said Thursday.
Speaking to South Dakota reporters, Noem again declined to say she would or would not seek the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Tim Johnson.
"I haven’t made any decisions yet," Noem said. "We’ve been pretty busy out here and have a lot of things on our plate. I believe that there’s still time to consider political futures, but right now I’m still focused on policy."
So far one Republican, former governor Mike Rounds, has already entered the race.
Noem said it was still early, with the Republican primary still more than a year away in June 2014.
"I believe I’ve got time yet here to consider that and make a decision," she said.
