The South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations is among the leaders in pushing for a Medicaid expansion in South Dakota. (It also championed last year’s unsuccessful one-percentage-point sales tax increase.)
Medicaid expansion is a tough battle with passionate advocates on both sides. And one of SDAHO’s top leaders does not appear to be impressed by “tea party members” fighting his group on the issue.
In an article in SDAHO’s weekly newsletter, SDAHO president and CEO Dave Hewett wrote about the people who have testified against Medicaid expansion:
Opposition has come from those who have opposed “Obamacare” from the get-go. Frankly, and this is my opinion, these are tea party members who have never supported any aspects of the Affordable Care Act.
